The Montserrat rack railway stations are in the town of Monistrol de Montserrat, where you can catch the train from the two stations (Monistrol Enllaç and Monistrol Vila) to travel up to the Montserrat sanctuary area.
- The Monistrol Enllaç links to the FGC Line R5 Llobregat-Anoia, and visitors can get there from the Plaça dâEspanya train station in Barcelona, or from any station on the R5 line.
- The Monistrol Vila station is for those visitors arriving by private vehicles and coaches, and the station has a free car park.
The Tot Montserrat and Trans Montserrat combined tickets are open tickets and they do not have any specific usage date. In order to exchange the tickets, the confirmation voucher received must be presented at our Montserrat Reception Point in the FGC station in Plaça dâEspanya (Barcelona). The office is open Monday to Sunday fro 8.00 am to 2.00 pm.
The Montserrat rack railway and cable car tickets are on sale in the Montserrat online shop, as well as at the cogwheel railway and cable car stations.
Yes, you can access the Montserrat sanctuary area with your own vehicle and once there, you can leave it the payment car park. You can also access the station that takes you from Monistrol Vila to the rack railway using your own vehicle, and once there, you take the rack railway to the sanctuary area.
The Montserrat rack railway stations, as well as the train itself, are adapted for people with reduced mobility, while the Sant Joan and Santa Cova funiculars are not.

It is not possible to book the Sant Joan or Santa Cova funiculars, and access to them is strictly through queuing and depending on occupancy at that particular time, although it is necessary to send notification to the stations informing on the number of people in the group, as well as the time of travelling up and/or travelling down in the funiculars, in order to be able to foresee the service requirements.
Yes, you can travel with pets free-of-charge, both on the Montserrat rack railway and funiculars. To access all the FGC premises, dogs must be on a lead and wear a muzzle. Small animals have to travel inside a basket or cage. Under no circumstances can they occupy a seat. If they do not have a muzzle, there are some on sale at the cogwheel railway ticket offices in the Monistrol Vila station and also in the Sant Joan funicular stations, at the price of âŹ5.00 and in different sizes. Under-16s cannot bring dogs considered by law to be potentially dangerous.
You can access the basilica for free if you buy one of the combined tickets: Tot Montserrat or Trans Montserrat. Without the combined ticket, a tourist ticket is established for non-residents in Catalonia and the rest of the State for access to the Sanctuary.

Yes, you have a weekâs margin to return by rack railway and ordinary train if you go back to Montserrat. The funiculars, on the other hand, must be used on the same day that you arrive at the monastery.
